When you get seated, they bring you a carafe of water and a basket of bread (always warm) with two dipping sauces. Their portions are pretty large so make sure you come hungry (although, they do well as next day leftovers if you must), add an Inca Kola (if you've never had it, it kind of tastes like cream soda) and some fried plantains (which I think are considered a side but we always eat them as dessert) and you have the perfect meal. I guess they are known for their chicken, which I've tried and enjoyed, but my favorite dish is the Bistec Encebollado con Frijoles y Arroz. blocks up Irving Park (the extra walk is probably good since I always eat a lot when we come here, and yes they moved close enough that it is still a walkable distance). They used to be right across the street from me but now they are a couple. They recently moved but they aren't far from where they were. We both love the food and the atmosphere. My BF and I eat here often, maybe too often. Mexican Restaurants for Families in Near North Side.
